JoyZen Seventh Sense Lapsang Souchong Black Tea
This premium Lapsang Souchong black tea is crafted using innovative techniques, distinguishing it from traditional smoked varieties.
Unlike conventional methods that use local pinewood (now restricted due to conservation policies), it features a distinctive floral-fruity honey aroma with naturally sweet notes and a bright liquor.
The tightly rolled leaves exhibit a lustrous dark hue with sun-kissed botanical fragrances. The vibrant orange-gold infusion delivers a rich, sweet, and lively taste, layered with fruity and floral notes. Its enduring aroma and alpine essence live up to its poetic name—"Seven-Mile Fragrance"—lingering like an endless bouquet.
$55 | 100g (5g x 20 bags) | 1 Box
Brewing Guide:
Teaware: 120ml gaiwan or teapot
Dosage: 5g (standard packet weight)
Water: 95°C+ mineral/purified water
Rinse: Discard the first infusion immediately.
Steeping:
2nd–5th infusions: 5–10s
6th–12th infusions: Add 5s per steep
Pro Tip: After each infusion, leave the lid open for ~1 minute to cool the leaves slightly—this enhances the tea’s delicate fragrance.
About Lapsang Souchong:
"Lapsang" denotes authenticity, referring exclusively to black tea produced in Tongmu Village (Wuyi Mountain, Fujian) and surrounding areas at the same elevation, using identical traditional methods.
"Souchong"indicates small-leaf varietals. As a protected geographical indication (PGI), genuine Lapsang Souchong must originate within a 50km² zone bordered by Malie (east), Guadun (west), Pikeng/Guwangkeng (south), and Tongmu Pass (north).
Teas made elsewhere with similar techniques are classified merely as "Souchong Black Tea."
Lapsang Souchong comes in two distinct styles:
Traditional Smoked Lapsang Souchong——Crafted using time-honored methods with pinewood smoking, this variety offers a rich pine-smoked aroma and sweet longan notes.
Modern Lapsang Souchong——Produced with contemporary drying techniques, it features a lighter profile with pronounced floral, fruity, and honeyed fragrances—minus the intense smokiness.
