JoyZen Golden Dawn Smoked Lapsang Souchong Black Tea
This premium Lapsang Souchong is meticulously crafted using time-honored methods, smoked over local pine wood, which imparts a distinctive rich smokiness and a sweet, longan-like aroma. The flavor is uniquely fresh, sweet, and invigorating.
Due to strict restrictions on pine wood harvesting, authentic smoked Lapsang Souchong has become increasingly rare, making it all the more precious.
$64 | 100g (5g x 20 bags) | 1 Box
Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaves: Tight, slender, and jet-black with a glossy sheen. A deep inhale reveals an intense roasted smokiness, reminiscent of Islay Scotch whisky.
Liquor: Bright orange-red, crystal-clear, and aromatic. The smoked pine fragrance lingers on the palate, blending seamlessly with the tea’s natural sweetness and a subtle longan-like note.
Aftertaste: The penetrating smokiness persists, leaving a long, memorable finish.
Brewing Guide:
Teaware: 120ml gaiwan or teapot
Dosage: 5g (standard packet weight)
Water: 95°C+ mineral/purified water
Rinse: Discard the first infusion immediately.
Steeping:
2nd–5th infusions: 5–10s
6th–12th infusions: Add 5s per steep
Pro Tip: After each infusion, leave the lid open for ~1 minute to cool the leaves slightly—this enhances the tea’s delicate fragrance.
About Lapsang Souchong:
"Lapsang" denotes authenticity, referring exclusively to black tea produced in Tongmu Village (Wuyi Mountain, Fujian) and surrounding areas at the same elevation, using identical traditional methods.
"Souchong" indicates small-leaf varietals. As a protected geographical indication (PGI), genuine Lapsang Souchong must originate within a 50km² zone bordered by Malie (east), Guadun (west), Pikeng/Guwangkeng (south), and Tongmu Pass (north).
