Regarding Yunzhanxuan's "Crater Yohen" Jian Zhan

The "Crater Yohen" Jian Zhan is an original creation by Master Ye Yiyun, a renowned Jian Zhan artisan from Nanping City, Fujian Province.

Drawing upon decades of experience in Jian Zhan craftsmanship, Master Ye has blended ancient wisdom with modern innovation, achieving remarkable mastery in the art of tea bowls. His creation, the Yunzhanxuan "Crater Yohen" Jian Zhan, has been granted an exterior design patent.

The clay used for this piece is sourced locally from Shuiji Town in Jianyang District—a region geographically designated for Jian Zhan production. It incorporates naturally occurring red-brown soil with moderate iron content, along with local iron-based crystalline ore and meteorite materials. The bowl is coated with a unique, self-formulated glaze and fired at high temperatures exceeding 1,300 degrees Celsius in a reduction atmosphere using traditional Jian kiln techniques.

Through repeated oxidation during firing, natural flame marks and smoke trails form patterns resembling meteorite impact craters. The glaze presents a deep black background with a pronounced sense of gravity and fluidity.

The glazed surface shimmers with rainbow-like radiance—sometimes evoking the brilliant stars of the vast cosmos, other times resembling iridescent peacock feathers encircled by silver halos… inspiring endless imagination. Scattered crater-like spots offer a distinct tactile texture, with clearly defined bumps and depressions. These large, oily-drop patterns are surrounded by a faint blue glow that shifts in hue depending on the angle and intensity of ambient light. Each spot is perfectly rounded and flawless, displaying rich, unpredictable patterns that maintain an egg-like form adorned with multi-colored kiln-developed films of blue, green, purple, gold, and more. The glaze exhibits a strong vitreous luster with a metallic quality, all formed entirely through natural processes. This makes the charm of Yunzhanxuan's "Crater Yohen" Jian Zhan all the more visually captivating.
